HALFTIME: IU 37 , PSU 22
The Hoosiers have started this game playing some of their best ball of the entire season, led by both hustle and tough guard play. Senior Jamie Braun is truly playing like it is her last game, as she has dove for every ball, and has 2 steals. She leads the team in scoring with 9 points. The Hoosiers defense has let them get a substantial lead in this game, as they held the Lady Lions to not one, but two separate scoring droughts of over 7 minutes.
Alex Bentley leads Penn State in scoring with 9 points.
UPDATE:
The Hoosiers have gone with a different starting lineup than normal, with constants Jori Davis and Jamie Braun starting, but Andrea McGuirt, Aulani Sinclair, and Danilsa "City" Andujar filling out the starting five.
PREGAME:
The Hoosiers play their final regular season game today against Penn State at 4 pm. The Hoosiers have dropped their 5 last games, and look to end their season on a high note.
The last time these two teams met up, the game was close, but ended with a Hoosier loss in overtime. In the prior match up, freshman forward Sasha Chaplin did not play. The additional post presence will be a plus for the Hoosiers as they will need all the defensive presence possible, as they will be facing senior Tyra Grant, who is on the mid-season watch list for the Naismith award.
Today's game also marks senior guard Jamie Braun's last regular season game in cream and crimson. Braun had this to say about her last game at Assembly Hall:
"It's definitely hit me, that's why I'm getting so kind of crazy on the court, and probably showing a lot of unnecessary emotion," Braun said. "I want to go out winning, and we haven't been doing that."
However, since their previous match up ended so close, even with only 8 Hoosiers seeing playing time, it looks as if they will have the opportunity to end the season with a win now that they have most players back from injury and suspension.
