The Hoosiers ended their 2010 season in a 15-5 loss today against their in-state rivals. The IU men's golf team shot a 279 in Saturday's final round, its fourth lowest round of the year, but it was not enough as they finished in 9th place at the NCAA Central Regional. The Hoosiers fought their way up the leader board all day Saturday and finished the regional three shots outside of fifth place, the cut off for teams advancing to the NCAA Championships on June 1-6. Leading IU all week was sophomore David Erdy in 11th place individually.
Sophomore left fielder Alex Dickerson has been invited to the 2010 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team Trials, and was named one of 25 semifinalists for the Dick Howser Award.
Led by sophomores Chase Wright and David Erdy, the IU men's golf team sits in 7th place after shooting a 285 in the first round of the NCAA Central Regional at Warren Golf Course in South Bend, Ind. Wright carded a two-under par round of 68 for the Hoosiers and is in 6th place individually. One shot higher than Wright was Erdy, in 8th place individually. Freshman Brant Peaper (73) and Corey Ziedonis (75) also saw their scores count towards the Hoosiers team total. For only the second time all season, All-Big Ten senior Alex Martin (76) was the high score for IU. Five teams will advance out of the Central Regional to the NCAA Championships on June 1-6.
