The IU men's golf team shot a 279 in Saturday's final round, its fourth lowest round of the year, but it was not enough as they finished in 9th place at the NCAA Central Regional.

The Hoosiers fought their way up the leader board all day Saturday and finished the regional three shots outside of fifth place, the cut off for teams advancing to the NCAA Championships on June 1-6.

Leading IU all week was sophomore David Erdy in 11th place individually. Erdy's three round total of one-under par 209 was one shot higher than the individual cut off for the NCAA Championships.

Fellow sophomore Chase Wright recorded the low round for the Hoosiers in Thursday's opening round with a 68, and finished the tournament in 28th place.

All-Big Ten senior Alex Martin capped off his four-year career on Saturday with a final round 67, including a 31 on his final nine holes.

Freshman Brant Peaper had his score count towards the team total in two of the thee rounds for IU and finished the week in 43rd place.

A closing 72 was the low round of the week for freshman Corey Ziedonis, who finished in 59th place individually.
