Hey folks,
I do apologize for not getting you a preview of the IU-Purdue game tonight, my travel situation got all screwed around by cold, wind and snow. Here's a quick hit on Purdue, and I will have a running blog of the game tonight as usual. Stay with us, and enjoy.
Record: 5-7, 1-1 in Big Ten
Series: Purdue leads series 40-23 and has won 12 of last 14
Players to watch: Lakisha Freeman, Jr., Forward - 13.4 PPG, 5.7 RPG; Danielle Campbell, Jr., Center - 12 PPG, 7.9 RPG; FahKara Malone, Soph., Guard - 6.5 PPG, 3.5 APG
Story: Sharon Versyp, who spent one season at IU before taking the Purdue job - Purdue is her alma mater - brings an injury depleted team into Assembly Hall tonight. The Boilermakers have been without junior guard Jodi Howell and senior forward Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton, who have been out all season. As such, the Boilers have struggled. But they've done it against good teams, already having played perennial national powers Duke, North Carolina and Notre Dame. This seems like the Hoosiers' best opportunity in some time to take it to their in-state rivals. Purdue also has a nationally televised date with No. 1-ranked Connecticut looming, so it might be interesting to see if that affects their play at all.
-This is the 15th time the two teams will be playing for the Barn Burner Trophy, which Purdue won last year and has taken home 12 of 14 times.
