Caring Companions

Become a Caring Companion with Area 10 Agency on Aging and help older adults and individuals with disabilities remain independent, safe, and socially connected. As a volunteer, you’ll be matched with someone based on the types of support you’re comfortable providing. Supportive tasks could include friendly visiting, helping around the home, yard or garden help, pet care, and more. Volunteers are asked to commit to 1 hour per week for a minimum of 6 months.

Dearly Departed Cemetery Tours

Explore the stories that have outlived the deceased at one of Bloomington's most historic cemeteries with live reenactors! Volunteers will assist City of Bloomington Parks & Recreation staff with setup and teardown, guiding parking, and greeting tour participants. Volunteers will also have the opportunity to go on a tour during their shift. On-site training provided.

Community Book Fair Volunteers

Hoosier Hills Food Bank (HHFB) hosts the Bloomington Community Book Fair October 15-20, 2026 at the Monroe County Fairgrounds. The book fair features over 100,000 items – books and much more. All proceeds go to the food bank, which serves 5 million pounds of food to communities across South-Central Indiana every year. Volunteers help HHFB produce their biggest annual fundraiser by unpacking and organizing book sale items, and helping out around the fairgrounds.

Help Monroe County CASA ensure that the abused and neglected children of Monroe County live in safe permanent homes and have the opportunity to reach their full potential by fulfilling a wish from their wish list. Wish list items include board games, card games, puzzles, and gift cards from a variety of stores.
