Indiana men’s basketball landed its highest-rated addition to its 2027 recruiting class, with five-star center Darius Wabbington announcing his commitment to the program Tuesday on his X.
Wabbington is ranked the No. 13 overall player in the nation and the No. 2 center, according to 247Sports. The 6-foot-11, 255-pound big man chose the Hoosiers over Illinois, Washington, the University of Arizona and the University of Alabama.
The Phoenix native earned an offer from the Hoosiers on July 20, 2025, and made his official visit to Bloomington on Sept. 3, 2026.
Per Jeff Rabjohns with 247Sports, Indiana assistant coaches Kenny Johnson, Drew Adams and Thomas Carr watched Wabbington play in-person last weekend during the Border League event — a high school basketball showcase tournament — in Las Vegas.
In 30 games as a junior at Sunnyslope High School in Phoenix, Wabbington averaged 17.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 1.3 blocks and one steal per game. He averaged 2.4 turnovers and shot 52% from the field and 36% from three-point range as well on 73 attempts. Last year, Sunnyslope went 28-2 and won the 6A Central Arizona Interscholastic Association Open Division state championship.
Wabbington joins two 2027 recruits. Indiana starts its 2026 exhibition series against Butler University at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis on Oct. 11.
