The following is a press release written by Caroline Chastain for NAMI Indiana.
Hope is on the move. Residents across the Greater Bloomington Area are coming together for the annual NAMIWalks Bloomington, part of the nation’s largest and most vibrant mental health awareness event series.
This year’s theme, “Together We Are NAMIWalks,” reflects the strength, connection, and compassion of our community. Every step taken and every dollar raised fuels NAMI’s free programs, advocacy, and support services - making a lasting difference for the 1 in 5 who experience mental health conditions each year.
NAMIWalks is more than a walk: it’s a movement. Participants leave inspired, empowered, and reminded that no one is ever alone. Together, we are stronger. Together, we create hope. Together, we are NAMIWalks.
WHAT: NAMIWalks Bloomington
WHERE: Switchyard Park, 1601 S. Rogers St., Bloomington, IN 47403
WHEN: Sunday, September 13, 2026, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

“Looking at the mental health landscape today, the need has never been greater,” said Barbara Thompson, executive director of NAMI Indiana. “The impact of NAMIWalks is deeply felt, in families, workplaces, schools, and neighborhoods. Each participant helps create a ripple of care and connection. Together, we are unstoppable.”
To participate in NAMIWalks, register at namiwalks.org/bloomington. There is no registration fee, but fundraising is encouraged (and essential!). Participants raising $100or more receive the official 2026 event T-shirt.
