Indiana men’s soccer jumped eight spots in Tuesday’s United Soccer Coaches’ poll, climbing to the No. 14 slot two games into the season.
The Hoosiers started the season 2-0-0 for the first time since 2021, combining for six goals scored and just one penalty goal allowed in two games at Bill Armstrong Stadium against the University of Notre Dame and the University of Evansville.
This promotion was not the only good news for the team Tuesday, with senior forward Oliver Moller-Jensen named the National Player of the Week by way of an eight-point start, another reflection of Indiana’s hot start.
With no ranked opponents on Indiana’s schedule until a matchup with No. 11 Washington, a team that was ranked No.1 in preseason, the Hoosiers has a favorable chance to extend their perfect season until the Sept. 18 contest.
Indiana men’s soccer will defend its new ranking first against Butler University at 8 p.m. Thursday at Bill Armstrong Stadium, the final game of the opening three-match homestand.
“I’m overall pleased with where we are,” head coach Todd Yeagley said following Sunday’s 3-0 win against Evansville. “I just feel like we got to be a little bit sharper out of the gate. We’ve grown in every game.”
