Indiana baseball senior right-handed pitcher Jackson Bergman will miss the rest of the 2026 season due to an elbow injury. He is expected to undergo surgery in the coming weeks, per Indiana Athletics.
Bergman, who transferred to Indiana from the University of Toledo after spending the first three seasons of his college career with the Rockets, made three appearances as a weekend starter for the Cream and Crimson this year.
The Hicksville, Ohio, native pitched to a 4.50 earned run average in 14 innings pitched. Bergman’s best outing came in Indiana’s 7-3 win over Western Kentucky University on March 1 where he pitched five innings and only allowed one run. He also struck out four Hilltopper hitters.
He collected nine total strikeouts and walked five baserunners in the three starts. The right-handed pitcher held a 1-1 win-loss record before his season was cut short.
Bergman was expected to make his fourth start of the year March 8 against Washington. However, he was scratched the night before first pitch in a contest that ultimately ended in a 13-4 loss for the Hoosiers. It is unclear when the shoulder injury leading to the surgery happened.
Bergman is expected to seek a medical hardship waiver for an additional year of eligibility.
