The College Football Playoff National Championship game featuring No. 1 Indiana football versus No. 10 University of Miami is at 7:30 p.m. Monday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
While some fans are heading to Miami to experience the game in tropical weather, Kirkwood Avenue and the downtown area may be the most popular place for those staying in Bloomington on Monday night.
Many bars and restaurants will be hosting watch parties for fans. However, there will be street closures, no parking zones, cold temperatures and lots of Hoosiers.
As more Hoosiers make their way downtown, the city may close East Kirkwood Avenue to vehicle traffic, according to a press release by the City of Bloomington.
The city will place large buses and sanitation trucks on streets across town to block roadways from vehicle entry.
There will also be no parking allowed all day on the 400-500 blocks of East Kirkwood Avenue and on the 100 blocks of North and South Dunn Street.
All Uber and Lyft drop-offs and pick-ups will be directed to Fourth Street.
Bloomington Police Department will have increased staff downtown available for questions and assistance, according to the release.
Lastly, dress warm. Temperatures are expected to be in the low teens and heading toward single digits as the night continues on.
The Stride Center is available for assistance 24/7: 1-866-StrideTeam.
Bloomington City Police non-emergency line: 812-339-4477.
