Daniel Davis, 59, was reported missing Nov. 25 in the south Chicago area wearing an inside-out Indiana University sweatshirt. His family and police are seeking help in locating him.
His daughter, Wendy Davis, believes he may have suffered a stroke or another cognitive medical episode Nov. 24. In an interview with the Indiana Daily Student, she said the condition of his apartment on the day he was reported missing, such as windows and the fridge being open, raised concerns that something was wrong.
Daniel Davis graduated from IU in 1989 and is still a fan of his alma mater. His family is calling on the Bloomington community to keep an eye out for him in the event he ends up in town.
“My dad lived and breathed IU, like to the point where it was annoying,” Wendy said. “If he was watching all the Rose Bowl stuff right now, he would be talking our ears off about it.”
Daniel was involved in a car accident at approximately 11:15 p.m. Nov. 24. He refused medical attention at the scene, and his vehicle was towed. Daniel then asked responding officers from the Cook County Sherrif’s Office to take him to 115 Bourbon Street, a nightclub where he worked as a lighting designer.
Wendy said body camera footage from the officers at the scene that night showed him tripping over a curb and half of his face being droopy, a symptom often indicating a stroke.

At about 1:15 a.m. Nov. 25, two employees saw Daniel outside the nightclub before he left on foot. Surveillance footage showed him walking into a backyard and down the street in southern Chicago a few hours later.
More video surveillance captured Daniel the evening of Nov. 26 leaving mass at St. Donatus Church in Blue Island, Illinois, a Chicago suburb. This is the most recent footage family and police have of him.
