Local live music this week: festivities after finals

Finals week can be stressful. Wind down from the tests and celebrate the end of the semester with these live music opportunities.

Wednesday

IU student band Opal will play at The Bluebird. The 21-and-up show will start at 10 p.m. with tickets costing $14.25. The band, which started through Bloomington Delta Music Club, plays classic rock covers.

Thursday

Juniper Art Gallery will host its monthly music night Thursday with jazz duo Monika Herzig and Peter Kienle. The music night will be from 6-7:30 p.m. and is free to attend. The duo will play holiday jazz music.

Cardinal Spirits Distillery will host live holiday music from IU student pianist Noah Burns and his band. The event is free to attend, and a cocktail and dinner menu will be available. Reservations are encouraged for the event, which will be 21 and up and will last from 7-9 p.m.

Bloomington band S.C.U.B.A., which plays rock, pop and funk music, will play at The Bluebird at 10 p.m. Tickets for the 21-and-up show will cost $14.25. The band currently has one single out, titled “Wormhole Jukebox."

Friday

Morgenstern Books and Café will host its monthly jazz salon Friday with the Postmodern Jazz Quartet. The free event will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Bloomington cover band Welcome to the Neighborhood will play at The Bluebird for ages 21 and up. The show will start at 8:30 p.m., and tickets cost $14.25.

Bloomington musician Charlie Jesseph will bring his original music, to the Buskirk-Chumley Theater stage at 7 p.m. Tickets for the show will cost between $16 to $34, depending on seat location.

Saturday

Hairbangers Ball, an ‘80s cover band, will play at The Bluebird at 9 p.m. The show will be for ages 21 and up with tickets costing $20.72.

Sunday

Bloomington small business and plant nursery oak. will host 17-year-old singer songwriter Audrey Clampitt for the winter solstice. The event will be at 7 p.m., and tickets cost $5.
