The IU chapter of social fraternity Beta Chi Theta was placed on cease and desist Tuesday for hazing, non-compliance with university directives and interference with the university conduct process.

According to the Office of Student Life list of organizations on disciplinary action, all fraternity activities are suspended until further notice.

Beta Chi Theta is a South Asian social fraternity that lists brotherhood and service to humanity among the core values on its website.

The suspension marks the third organization put on cease and desist by the Office of Student Life in the last three weeks, with Phi Kappa Psi joining the list Oct. 21 and Alpha Epsilon Pi joining Oct. 24.

A fourth fraternity, Sigma Phi Epsilon was placed on an interim directive suspending all social activities effective Oct. 31 for endangering others.

Beta Chi Theta did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
