The Bloomington Police Department took a 16-year-old into custody in connection with an assault that occurred on the 400 block of East Kirkwood Avenue on Friday.

The teenager was transferred to a secure juvenile facility at the request of Monroe County Juvenile Probation, BPD Captain Ryan Pedigo said in an email.

He is the third person arrested in connection with the crime.

Avery Williams, 25, and Khalil Morris, 21, were arrested on Monday and charged with battery resulting in serious bodily injury and transported to the Monroe County Jail.

Officers arrived at the scene after receiving a report of the assault at 11:35 p.m. Friday. The victim had visible facial injuries, including missing teeth, according to another email from Pedigo.

The victim reported he, Morris and Williams had been involved in a verbal altercation after the victim believed one of them may have stolen his phone. After, the argument became physical. Both Morris and Williams were armed with handguns, according to cell phone footage from several witnesses, but did not use them in the assault.
