Indiana women’s basketball will begin its season ranked ninth in both the Associated Press poll and the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association/USA Today coaches poll.

On Oct. 4, Indiana was picked to finish second in the Big Ten by the media and third by the coaches.

The Hoosiers are coming off their second Big Ten regular season title in program history.

The Hoosiers began their 2022-23 season ranked No. 11 in the preseason AP poll, eventually reaching the No. 2 spot later in the season.

Indiana finished No. 7 in the WCBA/USA Today coaches poll a season ago after losing to the University of Miami (FL) in the NCAA Tournament Round of 32 on Mar. 20.

Indiana has now been ranked in the last five-straight preseason AP polls while earning four-straight pre-season rankings in the WBCA/USA Today coaches poll.

Only No. 3 Iowa and No. 7 Ohio State are the two Big Ten schools ranked above the Hoosiers in the AP Poll. The Hawkeyes are ranked third while the Buckeyes are ranked sixth in the WBCA/USA Today coaches poll.

Indiana will take the court at 7:30 p.m. Friday inside Simon Skojdt Assembly Hall alongside the Indiana men’s basketball team for Hoosier Hysteria. The Hoosiers will open their regular season at 7 p.m. Nov. 9 against Eastern Illinois University in Bloomington.
