Indiana men’s soccer rose again in Tuesday’s United Soccer Coaches’ poll, surging to the No. 2 slot — its highest since early September 2025 when the team was ranked No. 1.
The ranking followed the Hoosiers’ 1-0 win over Michigan on Friday, when junior forward Stephane Njike recorded his first goal as a Hoosier. This victory extended Indiana’s unbeaten streak. The Hoosiers’ record is now 6-0-1 — their best start since 2017.
With recent losses from then-No. 2 Maryland and then-No. 4 Georgetown University, as well as a draw for No. 3 Ohio State, Indiana’s road triumph in Michigan came at an ideal time for the Hoosiers.
The Big Ten remained scattered throughout the top-25 list. Four additional teams — No. 3 Ohio State, No. 7 Wisconsin, No. 8 Maryland and No. 19 Michigan State — joined Indiana in representing the conference in this week’s rankings. Indiana will face Maryland on Oct. 2 and Michigan State on Nov. 4 at home. The team will also travel to play Wisconsin on Sept. 22 and Ohio State on Oct. 20.
“Every (Big Ten) team is capable,” Indiana head coach Todd Yeagley said at a press conference Sept. 9. “I think, this year, the conference is going to be an absolute gauntlet."
With one conference victory under its belt, Indiana will return home to Bill Armstrong Stadium on Friday, taking on Washington with a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. Coverage will be on B1G+.
