The AMC CLASSIC Bloomington 11 theater, located at 1351 S College Mall Rd., will close Sept. 15. The theater, originally named Kerasotes ShowPlace East 11, was acquired and renamed by AMC in 2010.

In an email, Barry Brakeville, director of corporate communications at AMC, said the location will cease operations effective Sept. 15.

“AMC routinely reviews the theatres in our circuit, as well as opportunities outside of our circuit, and makes decisions based on what will best strengthen the Company going forward,” Brakeville said in the email.

Brakeville said customers can still visit AMC CLASSIC Bloomington 12 located at 2929 W 3rd St., AMC CLASSIC Columbus 12 or any Indianapolis location. AMC CLASSIC Columbus is located around 39 miles away from Bloomington and the nearest Indianapolis location, AMC Indianapolis 17, is located around 47 miles away from Bloomington.

AMC is a major American movie theater chain founded in the 1920s. AMC recently raised $325 million in capital through the sale of 40 million shares of stock and experienced an increase of 16% in total revenue from June 2022 to June 2023.

“We thank our Bloomington AMC 11 guests for their patronage,” Brakeville said in the email.
