Ash Soni to serve as new Kelley School of Business dean

Ash Soni was appointed the new dean of the IU Kelley School of Business IU announced Thursday. Soni has served as the Kelley School of Business interim dean since July 2022 and will lead the school for the next two years, according to a Kelley School of Business press release.  

In September 2022, IU Provost Rahul Shrivastav appointed a 16-person committee to lead the search for candidates after former dean Idalene Kesner stepped down from the position in April 2022 to return to teaching. Soni served as interim dean during the candidate search process, according to an IU press release.

Soni earned his doctorate and MBA at the Kelley School of Business and has been a faculty member in the school since 1981. Prior to serving as interim dean, Soni was the Kelley School of Business’s executive associate dean for academic programs, associate dean of information technology and chair of the operations and decision technologies department.  

IU also appointed Patrick Hopkins as the vice dean for the Kelley School of Business Bloomington campus. Hopkins is currently the executive associate dean for academic programs for the school’s Bloomington campus.  

Joining Soni and Hopkins, Julie Manning Magid will transition from her current role as executive associate dean of the school’s Indianapolis campus to vice dean of the Kelley School of Business Indianapolis campus.
