Mackenzie Holmes moves into second on Indiana women’s basketball all-time blocks list

Indiana women’s basketball senior forward Mackenzie Holmes moved into second for career blocks in program history with 198. She reached the milestone at the 2:36 mark of the third quarter during Thursday’s game against No. 12 Michigan.

Holmes started the game with 193 blocks and tied Jill Chapman for second at 197 when she recorded her fourth block of the game with 8:50 remaining in the second quarter. Chapman played for the Hoosiers from 1999 to 2002.

Only Quacy Barnes, who played for the cream and crimson from 1995 to 1998, remains ahead of Holmes on the career leaderboard. Barnes blocked 269 shots in her four years at Indiana.

Holmes also moved into eighth all-time in career program scoring on Thursday, passing Cyndi Valentin’s mark of 1,769, which was set from 2003 to 2006.
