The new year brings new shows! Here’s your weekly guide to help you navigate the waters of Bloomington’s thriving music scene:

18+ activities

Spiral, a self-described “progressive-metal collective,” and Golden Alley are playing Metal Night at 8 p.m. on Friday at the Reef, located at 313 N. Overhill Drive. With tickets priced at $6, it’s sure to rock your socks off.

Foredaze, Yeti Gamble and Fort Wanye-based Loveseat are set to play the Jefferson Street Music Studio at 8 p.m. on Sunday. In order to have more intimate experience with indie locals, attendees are encouraged to bring pastries. The studio is located at 2051 W. Fountain Drive. Tickets are only $7.

21+ activities

Hank Ruff, budding country music star, will play live at the Bluebird at 10 p.m. on Wednesday. The tickets will be priced at $10, but will include the infamous $1 drink Wednesdays, a bargain, if you ask me.

Local death metal bands Wretched Idol, Cadaverous Graves and 1 Body 6 Graves will play live at the Bishop on Saturday. Doors will open at 9:30 p.m. for the 10 p.m. show. As usual for the Bishop, located at 123 S. Walnut St., ID proving vaccination will be required. That’s an incredibly rockin’ night for $6 a ticket, which is sold at the door.

Rising indie band Too Many Cooks and Six-Foot Blonde, an infamous Bloomington-based band, will be live at 9 p.m. at the Bluebird on Saturday. Six Foot Blonde is celebrating the release of its new single “Lady,” set to drop that night. Attendees are encouraged to come in disco attire. Tickets are priced at $10.

Future forecast: budget for big bands

Angel Olsen is set to play at 8 p.m. at the Bluebird on Sunday. The show is 21+ with tickets priced at $35.

Young Nudy just announced a show at Old National Center in Indianapolis on March 21. Presale begins Thursday, Jan. 12, at 10 a.m. with the code SOUND.
