Indiana football head coach Tom Allen announced the Hoosiers were without four starters due to injuries ahead of Indiana’s matchup with No. 4 Michigan Saturday.

For the second-consecutive week, graduate student wide receiver, DJ Matthews Jr. was out due to a hamstring injury suffered during week four against the University of Cincinnati. Junior receiver Javon Swinton was also sidelined.

Indiana was without its starting tight end, junior AJ Barner, due to a foot injury. Along with Barner, most of the Hoosiers’ tight end room was also out, including redshirt freshman James Bomba, freshman Ryan Miller, and freshman Brody Foley. Redshirt freshman Aaron Steinfeldt made the start at tight end for the Hoosiers.

On the defensive side, starting linebacker senior Cam Jones did not play for Indiana due to a foot injury, and starting cornerback senior Jaylin Williams was out as well with a shoulder injury.

Indiana head coach Tom Allen said the injury will sideline Jones for multiple weeks.

“It’s a big blow anytime you lose a guy like that,” Allen said after the game.

Despite all the losses for Indiana prior to the game, junior position Cam Camper was back on the field after missing last week with a non-COVID-related illness. Camper had two catches for 39 yards against the Wolverines.
