IU football ranked No. 17 in AP preseason poll

IU football opens its season ranked No. 17 in the Associated Press preseason poll released Monday, its first preseason appearance in the poll since it opened the 1969 season ranked No. 14. This marks IU’s third preseason appearance in program history.

IU finished the 2020 season ranked at No. 12 in the AP Poll after a loss to the University of Mississippi in the Outback Bowl in January. The Hoosiers finished their season with a 6-2 record overall and 6-1 in the Big Ten.

IU opened at No. 17 in the American Football Coaches Association preseason poll released last Tuesday. IU will face Iowa, ranked at No. 18 in the AP Poll, at 3:30 p.m. Sept. 4 at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City, Iowa, to open the season.
