Monroe County was under an advisory travel status as of 4:05 p.m. Wednesday due to snowfall, according to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security website.

The advisory travel status means people in Monroe County may need to use caution or avoid certain areas because of a potentially dangerous road situation, according to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security website. According to a statement from the National Weather Service, the snow could cause slick roads and reduced visibility when driving.

The NWS predicted Bloomington will receive less than half an inch of snow Wednesday evening. The temperature in Bloomington is expected to be a low of about 18 degrees Wednesday evening, according to the NWS website.

The IU Police Department asked drivers to drive slowly and use caution.
