Hoosier Hills Food Bank is distributing free produce, meat and dairy each Friday in June starting June 5, according to a release.

Food will be distributed with help from the Indiana National Guard in a drive-through format from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the food bank. Hoosier Hills Food Bank is located at 2333 W. Industrial Park Dr. in Bloomington.

This new initiative, Fresh Fridays, is in response to the growing food insecurity issues caused by COVID-19. The food bank does have non-perishable items available, but the focus is on perishable items at this time. Proof of identification or income is not required.

The release says the program only intends to run through June, but it will be re-evaluated after to see if it will continue.
