Bloomington Fire Department responded Tuesday to a vacant house fire on West Third Street across from AutoZone Auto Parts. The department said no one was injured and it was the second time the house had caught fire.

About 23 firefighters were dispatched at 6:25 p.m. to help control the fully engulfed home on West Third Street, BFD firefighter Brandon Hudson said.

It’s unclear how much damage there was to the building.

A Bloomington Police Department officer at the scene said the vacant house appeared to have caught fire, but had no other information at the time. The flames were under control, but smoke still rose from the house around 6:40 p.m.

The house was vacant and the windows were boarded up, Hudson said.

An investigator arrived at the scene while the firefighters were still there to determine the cause of the fire, Hudson said. The cause of the fire has not been determined and the investigation will continue.
