A 26-year-old man was shot twice around 11:40 p.m. Wednesday on East Morningside Drive in Bloomington.

A 17-year-old boy who police suspect shot the man was later arrested and charged with attempted murder. He has not been identified.

The shooting took place in a parking lot, Bloomington Police Department Lt. John Kovach said in a press release. There, police found the victim, who has not been identified. He was shot in his right arm and right side.

He was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital where he is being treated. In an email sent Thursday afternoon, Kovach said he didn't have an update on the victim's condition.

Witnesses gave police the name of the shooter and a description of the vehicle he left the scene in, according to the release. Police located and stopped the vehicle on College Avenue, where the teenager was arrested. According to the release, a handgun was found on him.

The suspect and victim had previous “disputes over girls,” and these disputes led to the shooting, police said in the release.

The 17-year-old suspect was transported to a juvenile detention center where he is awaiting court. The case is still under investigation.
