Sunday morning shooting at 18th and Lincoln leaves two gunshot victims

The Bloomington Police Department responded to a report of numerous gunshots at 2:16 a.m. Sunday in the area of 18th Street and North Lincoln Street.

BPD Sgt. Dana Cole said there were no victims on the scene when officers arrived but they found bullet casings on the ground. He said officers talked to several witnesses at the scene.

There were two victims in the shooting — a 23-year-old male and 26-year-old male, according to Cole. He said both victims were transported to the emergency room at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.

Cole said the victims suffered non-life threatening injuries and were released from the hospital that same day.

The scene at 18th Street and North Lincoln Street appeared to be a house party, Cole said. There was a disturbance at the party that spilled into the parking lot. He said the disturbance then led to the gunfire.

Cole said there were two shooters exchanging gunfire. He said there were approximately 12 gunshots exchanged between both sides.

Detectives are still trying to track down suspects, Cole said.
