IU employee reports stalking, requests police presence

An IU-Notify was sent out Thursday night to inform students of an employee’s report that her husband had allegedly been stalking her for six months.

IU Police Department officers are doing extra patrols in the area at the request of the employee. The husband has appeared multiple times in the 10th Street and Woodlawn Avenue area over the last six months, said IUPD Captain Craig Munroe.

The suspect is a 64-year-old white male, weighing 220 pounds and is 6 feet 2 inches tall, Munroe said. He also has brown hair and eyes.

The IUPD uses a system to decide whether a notification needs to be sent out.

If there is danger, immediate or otherwise, then a notification is sent out. It was sent out because it represented a serious or continuing threat to the employee.

The investigation is ongoing, and IUPD knows the suspect's identity.
