BPD responded to alcohol, vibrator thefts at CVS Pharmacy on Saturday

The Bloomington Police Department was called twice Saturday to the CVS Pharmacy on South Walnut Street for reports of shoplifting.

BPD was first called at 11:50 a.m. Saturday. BPD did not arrest the 33-year-old Catherine Rian for misdemeanor theft, but issued her a court date.

BPD Sgt. Benjamin Burns said Rian allegedly stole a Trojan Vibrations Vibrating Bullet valued at $35.49, along with nearly $18 worth of makeup and a $13 fan.

Later that day at 7:19 p.m., BPD was called back to the same location for another report of shoplifting.

Burns said 37-year-old Richard Elsmore was arrested Saturday on the preliminary charge of theft. Elsmore allegedly cut a hole in a $10 bottle of Canadian Mist and dumped the contents into his own bottle.

CVS employees told police they have noticed this occurring other times and believe it was Elsmore.

Burns said Elsmore also stole pens, markers, a toothbrush, Tylenol and Blistex. The total cost of stolen items is valued at $46.
