The Steak n’ Shake at 2101 S. Liberty Drive reported a counterfeit bill Saturday to Bloomington police.
Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Brandon Siniard said officers responded to a call from the restaurant’s manager around 9 a.m. Saturday. The manager told police employees had discovered the fake $50 bill when they were counting money inside the cash drawer.
The bill had red Chinese writing on it, similar to the counterfeit bill used by a man purchasing chocolate milk May 12 at the Village Pantry.
Siniard said there are no current suspects. The case has been handed over to the Secret Service, which handles counterfeiting incidents.
