Man arrested in connection to alleged September rape after DNA match

Police arrested a Bloomington man Thursday for an alleged September 2018 rape.

Paul Bridgewater, 33, is the suspect believed to have raped and choked a 17-year-old girl September 28, 2018 after meeting her on the B-Line trail, police said.

The girl returned to the scene of the crime with police who recovered tissues.

The Bloomington Police Department received confirmation April 23 that DNA found on the tissues matched Bridgewater.

Bridgewater was located around 12:30 p.m. Thursday and faces preliminary charges of rape and criminal confinement.
