Women admit to shoplifting Valentine’s Day gifts

Two women admitted to police Monday they stole from Rural King to get their boyfriends Valentine’s Day gifts.

The women stole clothing and merchandise, including multiple T-shirts and an 18-fluid ounce Yeti Rambler bottle worth $20, Bloomington Police Department Lt. John Kovach said. The stolen goods were worth around $279 in total.

The manager told police 34-year-old Jessica Bell, a 23-year-old woman and her 2-year-old child came in to Rural King with a shopping cart and diaper bag. The manger reported the women walked to the store’s clothing and auto sections.

The women stuffed merchandise and clothing in the diaper bag and walked out of the store, the manager told police. The manager said the women were confronted and brought back inside.

Police arrived at Rural King around 11 a.m. where the two women and child were waiting. Bell was issued a citation for theft, and police requested a warrant for the 23-year-old woman.

Kovach said the women told officers they came to steal Valentine’s gifts for their boyfriends and themselves.
