Man arrested after dumping trashcan in road, screaming profanities at cops

A Bloomington man was arrested Saturday after reportedly flagging down officers, picking up a trashcan, dumping it in the middle of an intersection and yelling an obscenity at the police.

Officers said Daron Banks, 30, appeared extremely intoxicated. He smelled like alcohol, jumbled his words, fell down a few times and was unable to walk in a straight line.

When police approached Banks to arrest him for public intoxication, he resisted. When they wrestled him into the cruiser, he began trying to kick out the car’s back windows.

As officers tried to place him in leg restraints, he kicked one of them in the arm.

Banks faces preliminary charges of public intoxication and resisting law enforcement.
