Man assaults Bloomington Village Pantry employee

Officers are looking for a man who assaulted a Village Pantry employee Saturday outside of the store.

The employee, a 31-year-old male, went outside the store around 5:50 a.m. for a break when he saw a man and woman sitting inside a Gold Chevrolet Blazer with dark tinted windows, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Cody Forston said. The male then exited the car and started walking toward the employee, yelling loudly.

He reached the victim and hit him several times on the head before the employee was able to escape inside the store.

The victim said he believes the assault was a case of mistaken identity, based on what the man was yelling, Forston said. The employee also had a complaint of pain but was not treated for any injuries.

Police are still investigating the case and therefore not releasing any more information on the store’s location or what the suspect was yelling at the employee.
