Former Monroe County employee indicted on child porn charges

A former Monroe County employee was indicted Wednesday for possession of child pornography.

James Hans Huffman, 47, was arrested Wednesday morning and appeared before a federal magistrate later that day. The U.S. Marshals Service is holding him now, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office that represents Monroe County.

According to a press release, the indictment stated Huffman possessed child porn involving kids under 12 years old as far back as Nov. 6, 2017.

Huffman served as chief deputy treasurer of Monroe County beginning in 2010, according to the Monroe County Democratic Party's website.

He could face up to 20 years in prison if convicted, according to the release.

The Bloomington Police Department and FBI are both investigating the case. BPD Capt. Steve Kellams confirmed his department was involved in Huffman’s investigation and arrest.
