Police arrest man on charge of rape

Police charged and arrested an Indianapolis man on a charge of rape which was reported in Bloomington back in October 2017.

The suspect, Rodney Debowles Jr., 19, was booked into Monroe County Correctional Center Thursday.

According to the Bloomington Police Department, Debowles met the woman in early October and they began a relationship. BPD Capt. Steve Kellams said Debowles arrived at the woman's house on Oct. 21 when he allegedly raped her.

They were allegedly kissing in bed when he forcibly had sex with her even as she repeatedly told him no, according to police.

In a Nov. 28 interview with police, Debowles said he was probably being aggressive but he and the female had supposedly had sex before and he said it didn't seem like a big deal.

According to police, he said he probably should have stopped.

In December, BPD requested a warrant which Marion County Sheriffs served on Debowles on March 1, according to the county jail booking log.
