In 2016, Mayor Hamilton published an op-ed for the New York Times on his frustration with local action on gun violence in Indiana. The IDS sat down with him to discuss issues including carrying guns on campus, local laws on weapon regulation and the state of Indiana’s regulation as a whole. Read more here.


Car chargers on campus

New electric car chargers stand in front of the Cyberinfrastructure building at 10th Street and Indiana 46 Bypass. The charging stations were recently installed to help employees with electric cars get to and from work. Sam Oates

IU Parking Operations recently installed car chargers for electric vehicles at the Cybrerinfrastucture building. This is the department’s first step toward making chargers available in multiple locations across campus. Read more here.


"Kinky Boots" has one more night

"Kinky Boots” will be performed Oct. 24 and 25 at the IU Auditorium. The musical follows Charlie Price, who struggles to keep his father’s shoe factory running after his father’s death with help from Lola, a drag queen.

Complete with glitter, glam and glue, “Kinky Boots” made its way to the IU Auditorium stage Tuesday night, the first of its two-night stay. The cast of characters shined in numbers that highlighted diversity and acceptance, along with hard work and dedication.  “Kinky Boots” will play again at the IU Auditorium tonight at 8 p.m. Read more here.

IU women’s soccer had a promising start to Big Ten play after a successful nonconference period to begin the 2017 season. Then the goals went away, and so did the wins. Read more here.
