IUPD arrests men for drug dealing, possession

The IU Police Department arrested two men Friday evening and seized a large sum of drugs and cash, according to an IUPD release.

At an apartment complex on E. McCracken Way officers recovered about 264 grams of marijuana, 11 Xanax tablets, 13 squares of blotter LSD as well as MDMA and methamphetamine. Officers also recovered $1,281.07 in cash.

Bloomington resident Matthew Goodwin, 25, was arrested on charges of maintaining a common nuisance, two counts of dealing in marijuana, dealing in a controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, two counts of possession of marijuana, two counts of possession of paraphernalia and ten counts of possession of a controlled substance, according to the release.

Fellow Bloomington resident Bryant Cleasant, 30, was arrested on charges of maintaining a common nuisance and three counts of possession of a controlled substance.

The arrest came after an investigation that began in September with a tip to IUPD that the men had been dealing to students, IUPD Capt. Andy Stephenson said. The investigation involved IUPD officers purchasing marijuana and MDMA several times from Goodwin.

Bloomington Police Department detectives assisted IUPD in the investigation, according to the release.
