The IU Police Department confirmed there was no threat to campus after receiving phone calls Monday afternoon reporting an individual with a holstered firearm.

The individual was seen in the area around David Baker Avenue and Fee Lane, IUPD Public Information Officer Hannah Skibba said.

Indiana state law allows open carry of firearms in public areas without a permit.

Skibba said officers responded to the area out of an abundance of caution and determined there was no threat.

IUPD will continue to monitor the situation.
