Junior transfer Alex Krupa was suspended for the first weekend of play, IU Coach Chris Lemonis said after practice Monday.
IU lost two of its three games at Middle Tennessee State last weekend without Krupa.
Lemonis would not elaborate further on the specifics, but did say Krupa will return this weekend at Cal State Fullerton.
“He was suspended for the first weekend for violation of team rules,” Lemonis said. “He’s served his punishment and will be back this weekend and ready to go.”
Krupa, who transferred from Iowa Western Community College this past offseason, is expected to serve a regular starting role in the Hoosier outfield. He posted a .428 batting average in his sophomore season at Iowa Western.
Drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the 35th round of the 2015 Draft, the JUCO World Series MVP hit 10 triples in 2015.
