An assault with a knife was reported at about 7 p.m. Sunday by a mother after her 13-year-old son threw a butter knife at his 16-year-old sister, Bloomington Police Department Capt. Joe Qualters said.
The male juvenile said a shoving match started between him and his sister, but then it escalated. He reportedly punched his sister in the face and then she slapped him. Then the male juvenile saw a butter knife on the counter and threw it at her leg.
No medical attention was required for the incident. The male was referred to juvenile probation for battery with a deadly weapon. He was released to his mother at the scene, Qualters said.
