The IU women’s swimming team has 12 athletes that have qualified for the 2015 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships, tied for fourth-most with California.
Big Ten Freshman of the Year Kennedy Goss qualified for a total of three events. She is the No. 8 seed in the 500 freestyle, 200 freestyle and 200 backstroke. Junior Brooklynn Snodgrass was crowned the 200 backstroke Champion in the 2014 NCAA Championships.
Snodgrass will be looking to defend her title this year, as she qualified for the 200 backstroke as the No. 4 seed. She also qualified for the 100 backstroke as the No. 5 seed for the Hoosiers.
Other qualifiers for the Hoosiers are No. 10 seed junior Haley Lips and sophomore Stephanie Marchuk, who will join Goss in the 500 freestyle. Lips will also be joining Goss in the 200 freestyle as the No. 9 seed. Lips’ final qualification came in the 1,650 freestyle at the No. 18 seed, while Marchuk will be entering the same race at the No. 24 seed.
Sophomores Gia Dalesandro and Bailey Pressey and freshman Sam Lisy will compete in the 200 individual medley. Dalesandro will also race in the 200 butterfly as the No. 9 seed along with Pressey at the No. 31 seed.
Pressey will be joining No. 32-seed Lisy and No. 30-seed junior Dorina Szekeres in the 400 individual medley. Dalesandro will be the only Hoosier athlete in the 100 butterfly at the No. 19 seed.
