Two men arrested for disorderly conduct in College Mall

Brandon I. McCarey, 24, and Jerome D. Jones, 18, were arrested at College Mall on preliminary charges Saturday, according to a Bloomington Police Department arrest report. McCarey was arrested on preliminary charges of public intoxication, intimidation, resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct, and Jones was arrested on preliminary charges of disorderly conduct and resisting law enforcement.

Mall security had received several complaints regarding the men’s behavior, Capt. Joe Qualters said.

Dispatchers received a call regarding a disturbance at the mall after security observed two men sleeping at a table in the food court who refused to leave, Capt. Qualters said. Security led them to a door to exit the mall, when Jones reportedly walked in the opposite direction and made it clear he wasn’t going to leave. Jones then reportedly became combative and was handcuffed.

When mall security told McCarey, who was reportedly intoxicated and loud, he had to leave, he threatened to take legal action against College Mall and its security officers, Capt. Qualters said. McCarey also reportedly made threats against the officers and their families.
