Indianapolis Public Schools could lose about $18 million over the next two years as it continues to lose students. Hamilton Southeastern, one of the state’s largest suburban districts, will receive $24 million, a 5.2 percent increase from last year.
The Monroe County Community School Corporation will see an overall increase of $4 million, a 2.5 percent increase.
The Northwest Hendricks Schools Corporation, a rural district near Indianapolis, will see an overall increase of close to $1.3 million.
The CHOICE scholarship program, which funds private and charter school vouchers for low-income students, will receive an 11 percent increase in funding, from $122,617,222 to $173,800,000.
Overall, the new budget plan would spend $469 million over two years on education funding, more than double the $201 million proposed by Gov. Mike Pence.
