Munroe said the woman was on the east side of the intersection of Third and Union streets when a man approached her from behind, spun her around by her shoulders and threw her down into the grass. She was not injured.
As she fell, her cell phone was dislodged from her pocket and fell out into the grass as well, he said.
The suspect then fled with her cell phone in the direction of Willkie Residence Center, Munroe said.
The incident was called in at 10:15 p.m., and the victim described the suspect as a black male in his early 20s, about 5’8” with no facial hair and wearing a green and blue checkered shirt with a black vest and blue jeans, he said.
Munroe said the case remains an active investigation.
