From IDS reports

Building off his first team All-Big Ten performance in the 2013-14 season, junior guard Kevin “Yogi” Ferrell was named to the preseason All-Big Ten first team Thursday morning.

Ferrell joined Michigan guard Caris LeVert, Nebraska forward Terran Petteway and Wisconsin forwards Sam Dekker and Frank Kaminsky on the team, which is voted on by members of the media.

Kaminsky was the team’s only unanimous choice and the media’s preseason Player of the Year.

Last season, Ferrell led the Hoosiers in points, 3-point field goals, free throws made and assists. His 17.3 points per game ranked fourth among all conference players.

He is IU’s first preseason All-Big Ten selection since 2012, when then-sophomore forward Cody Zeller was named the conference’s preseason Player of the Year.

The media tabbed Wisconsin as its unanimous preseason favorite for the conference championship. The Badgers return four starters from last year’s team, which advanced to the Final Four.

Michigan State and Ohio State were chosen to finish second and third in the conference, respectively.
