IU football adds speed to the 2015 class

The IU football class of 2015 is now to double digits with commitment from Titus Booker Thursday afternoon.

Booker, a running back from Grayslake, Ill., made his announcement via Twitter.

“Officially committed to further my education and take my talents to Indiana University! #BTownBound #Hoosiers15 #GoIU,” he tweeted.

The 5-foot-11, 172-pound Booker received an offer from IU after his unofficial visit on June 21. He had narrowed his decision down to Wisconsin, Bowling Green and IU, before choosing the Hoosiers.

While he’s spent time in high school at both running back and cornerback, an injury limited Booker to seven games during his junior season. Despite the injury, he still rushed for nearly 1,300 yards.

In the last two seasons combined, Booker rushed for a total of 1,983 yards on 298 carries, and 25 touchdowns. He also had 15 catches for 218 yards.

Booker is the first running back in an offensively dominant recruiting class, but could potentially play on the defensive side of the ball as well.

Rivals.com lists Booker’s 40-yard dash time at 4.41. Also a track star, he placed second in the 100-yard dash at the Illinois 3A state track meet in 10.64 seconds.

Booker gives IU depth with his speed and athleticism. He will join a somewhat inexperienced backfield with the exception of seniors Tevin Coleman and Anthony Davis. With Coleman as the clear starter, Booker may see limited time early on but provides Coach Kevin Wilson options with his ability to move around on the field.

Booker becomes the third commit from the state of Illinois and seventh offensive player in the class of 2015.
