Jacobs School of Music begins annual music series

As part of IU’s Summer Festival of the Arts, the Jacobs School of Music will present a summer music series.

It will include more than 40 free and ticketed events from June 7 through July 25.

The series will include a variety of world-class concerts featuring orchestra, jazz, chamber music, piano, choral, band, percussion and opera, according to a press release.

Starting June 7, a series of piano recitals will take place.

The jazz component of the series will be introduced June 15 by the Summer Saxophone Academy faculty.

The ticketed part of the series will begin June 25 with the Rubens Quartet.

They will have additional appearances June 29 and July 3.

The Festival Chamber Players will present a 30th anniversary concert for the Summer String Academy July 13.

Additionally, the Summer Band concerts will be featured on the lawn of the Musical Arts Center.

The concerts will include marches, popular favorites, solos and light classics.

The Summer Percussion Academy and Workshop will close out the series with a grand finale July 25.

Tickets and passes are now available from the Musical Arts Center box office and online.
