A verbal argument between two men and a woman escalated to an altercation involving a knife Saturday, resulting in an arrest for attempted murder.
Brooke Shelton, 26, was reportedly arguing with two men in a residence in the 800 block of Park Square Drive when she pulled out a knife and began to swing, striking a victim, 38, in the shoulder, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Scott Myers said. Officers responded to the call at about 10:36 p.m.
Shelton was booked into the Monroe County Jail, her bond on hold, and faces a preliminary charge of attempted murder.
A witness who was in the house at the time of the incident told police Shelton entered the residence in a frenzy, screaming and throwing things around the house, Myers said.
The 911 call made to Bloomington police indicated a woman was trying to stab two men.
Shelton accused the two men of “ratting her out,” Myers said. The relationship between the two parties is unknown as of Sunday afternoon.
Following the assault on the victim with the knife, both men wrestled Shelton to the floor in an attempt to subdue her until police arrived.
Bloomington police were called sometime before 10:40 p.m. and arrived on the scene about three minutes after the call was made, Myers said.
