John Newlin

County Commissioner, District 3 Candidate

Newlin, 61, has bachelor’s degrees from Miami University of Ohio and Indiana University. He has studied concrete, aggregate and cement design and received certifications from several institutions, including the University of Kentucky and IU-Purdue University Indianapolis.

Newlin is the part-owner of Central Indiana Ready Mix LLC.

Biggest issue facing the Monroe County Commissioners?

“Property rights. If you want a large track of land or if you want half an acre, it is your land, not the government’s. Jobs: Monroe County is not industrial-friendly and has turned away good jobs.

I have managed five major companies with 20 to 150 employees. I started five new operations from the ground up that are still in business today. I designed and built eight new homes and developed a small subdivision.

I know how to operate, lead and make a profit. Government is too big.”
